Favorite Knitting Resources

Off white Snowflower ShawlOver the years, people have asked me what resources I recommend. The following information includes many of my favorites. Each entry is listed in order of my personal favorites from first to last.

Online Supplier Websites:

Schoolhouse Press – My favorite online knitting supplier

This wonderful knitting supplier was started more than 50 years ago by famed and beloved Elizabeth Zimmerman and her daughter, Meg Swansen. Both are fabulously creative knitwear designers and instructors who have written many books and developed hundreds of knitting patterns. Wonderful books and instructional DVDs, beautiful yarns including authentic unspun icelandic and shetland wool, patterns, periodicals, accessories, and much more.

Thank you Meg for continuing the legacy, you’re priceless!

Philosophers Wool

This company is located in beautiful Ontario Canada and is owned by Eugene and Anne Bourgeosi. They teach a fabulous two handed knitting technique that I use to knit Fair Isle and stranded knit sweaters and accessories. I love their beautifully dyed heathered wool yarn and lovely sweater patterns. On their website you can find their excellent instructional DVD and book that teaches their two handed stranded knitting technique as well as, tools, accessories, and Eugene and Anne are terrific!
